Escambia Search and Rescue trains for and responds to many different types of incidents, including lost children; missing hunters;drowning victims; overdue boats; missing persons with Alzheimer’s, Autism or other forms of dementia; and natural disasters.Our searchers are volunteers from Northwest Florida, and South Alabama, trained in communications, rescue diving, K9 searching, boat operations, ground searching, and support; ready to respond at a moment’s notice.ESAR is a member of the National Association of Search and Rescue (NASAR) and provides Search, Rescue, and Recovery services to local, state, and federal law enforcement, and fire / rescue agencies. During a declared emergency we fall under the Emergency Services Function 9 (ESF 9) and operate under local government guidance. ESAR is dispatched by our local Fire / Rescue command center at the request of a law enforcement or fire / rescue agency. Private citizens can also request our assistance directly by calling 850-474-1644 and leaving a message.
